Why This Course?

Ignite Your Entrepreneurial Potential on a Global Stage

Let's be honest - traditional business degrees often teach you how things work in theory. This degree goes further. The BA (Hons) Global Business and Entrepreneurship with Foundation Year is structured around one central question: how do you actually build, grow, and sustain a business in today's fast-moving, interconnected world?

Whether your ambition is to launch your own startup, take over the family business, or climb the ladder within a multinational corporation, this degree gives you the intellectual toolkit and practical confidence to make it happen. You'll study everything from core business strategy and international economics to venture finance, innovation management, and digital entrepreneurship - topics that are reshaping how organisations compete right now.

What makes this programme particularly special is the Foundation Year. It is not a remedial stepping stone - it is a genuinely valuable introductory year that brings you up to speed on academic writing, business fundamentals, and critical thinking before you tackle the full degree. Many of our students who take the Foundation Year route end up among the strongest performers in the subsequent years precisely because they build such a solid academic foundation first.

AEC Consultant has helped over 5,000 students access programmes like this one, and we bring that same expertise to every conversation we have with you. Our service is completely free - we are compensated by our partner universities, never by you.

"This degree is a blueprint for the future. You will learn to think like a strategist, identify value where others see uncertainty, and lead with purpose in markets that span the globe."

What Makes This Degree Different?

  • Authentic assessments - you work on real business scenarios, not generic textbook exercises. Many students use their own business ideas for major project work.
  • Global focus from day one - international trade, cross-cultural management, and global market entry strategies are woven throughout every year of the programme.
  • No UCAS application required - our partner universities do not require a UCAS application, which means the process is faster and far less stressful.
  • Three intakes per year - January, June, and September, so you can start at a time that suits your life, not just the academic calendar.
  • Fully SFE funded - your Tuition Fee Loan covers 100% of costs, and a Maintenance Loan is available on top to help with living expenses.

Who Is This Course For?

This degree is a strong fit if you identify with any of the following:

  • You have always wanted to run your own business but never had the formal training or confidence to take the leap.
  • You are working in retail, sales, or customer service and want a recognised degree that opens doors to management and leadership positions.
  • You are a mature student (21+) who did not follow a traditional academic path but has built real-world experience that is absolutely worth something.
  • You want a degree that is relevant to the world as it actually is - global, digital, and entrepreneurial - rather than how it was twenty years ago.
  • You want access to a full Honours degree but need a Foundation Year to build your confidence and academic skills first.
Curriculum

Your Four-Year Learning Journey

The programme is designed to take you from academic fundamentals in the Foundation Year all the way through to independent strategic thinking and your own entrepreneurship project in Year 3. Here is what you can expect at each stage.

Foundation Year (Year 0) - Building Your Academic Platform

The Foundation Year is where everything starts. It is carefully designed to help you develop the academic skills, business vocabulary, and critical thinking habits you will need to thrive in Years 1, 2, and 3. You do not need prior business knowledge to start here - just curiosity and commitment. Modules in this year are taught in a supportive environment with smaller groups and more tutor contact time.

  • Academic Writing & Research Skills
  • Introduction to the Business Environment
  • Entrepreneurial People & Processes
  • Fundamentals of Finance
  • IT Essentials for Business
  • Introduction to Global Markets

Year 1 - Core Business Foundations

In Year 1 you step into the full degree programme. You will build a broad understanding of how businesses are organised and how they compete, while beginning to develop your own perspective on strategy and entrepreneurship. By the end of this year, you will have a clear grasp of the key disciplines that underpin all business activity.

  • Principles of Management & Leadership
  • Global Business Environment
  • Marketing Fundamentals in a Digital Age
  • Financial Accounting for Business
  • Entrepreneurship: Theory & Practice
  • Business Research Methods

Year 2 - Applied Skills & Global Strategy

Year 2 is where the learning really comes alive. You will tackle more complex, real-world business challenges and begin applying your knowledge in practical, project-based assessments. You will also start specialising in the areas of global strategy and innovation that define the entrepreneurial leader.

  • International Trade & Global Strategy
  • Innovation Management & Disruptive Technologies
  • Venture Finance & Investment Readiness
  • Digital Marketing & E-Commerce Strategy
  • Organisational Behaviour & Cross-Cultural Management
  • Business Ethics, CSR & Sustainable Enterprise
  • Operations Management & Supply Chain

Year 3 (Final Year) - Strategic Leadership & Entrepreneurship Project

The final year is your chance to demonstrate everything you have learned. You will work on a substantial independent Entrepreneurship Project - this can be a full business plan, a market entry strategy, a consultancy report for a real company, or an academic research dissertation on an entrepreneurial topic you are passionate about. You will also take advanced modules in strategy and leadership that prepare you for the most competitive graduate roles.

  • Strategic Management & Competitive Advantage
  • Global Entrepreneurship & Scaling Ventures
  • Corporate Finance & Value Creation
  • Leadership, Change & Organisational Transformation
  • Negotiation, Influence & Stakeholder Management
  • Entrepreneurship Project (Dissertation / Business Plan)
Assessments across the degree are designed to be "authentic" - you work on realistic business scenarios, and many students use their own venture ideas as the basis for their major project. This means your degree work can double as genuine business development.
Entry Requirements

More Pathways In Than You Might Think

One of the questions we hear most often is: "Do I actually qualify for this?" The honest answer is: probably yes, and if you are not sure, that is exactly what our free eligibility check is for. The Foundation Year route is specifically designed to be accessible, and our partner universities consider far more than just your exam results.

Standard Entry (Typically Under 21)

  • A Level 3 qualification equivalent to at least 60 credits or 80 UCAS tariff points - this includes A-Levels, BTECs, Access to Higher Education diplomas, and many international equivalents.
  • GCSE English at Grade 4 (C) or above, or an equivalent qualification. If you do not have this, you can sit an English assessment at one of our partner campuses - it is not the end of the road.
  • No UCAS application required - the university does not use the UCAS system, which means a much faster and simpler process.

Non-Standard Entry (Mature Students Aged 21+)

If you are 21 or over and do not have the standard qualifications listed above, you are not automatically excluded. Many of the most driven and successful students on this programme came through a non-standard route. You will be assessed via:

  • Personal Interview: A relaxed conversation with an admissions tutor to assess your communication skills, motivation, and relevant experience.
  • Supervised Reflection Statement: A short written task, completed on campus, that demonstrates your ability to express ideas clearly and think critically about a business-related topic.

Relevant work experience in areas such as retail management, sales, logistics, customer service, self-employment, or running a community project all count in your favour. This is not about your past grades - it is about who you are now and where you want to go.

English Language Requirements

For students whose first language is not English, an IELTS score of 5.5 overall (with no individual band below 5.5) is typically required, or an equivalent qualification. If you are close but not quite there, we can advise on pre-sessional English programmes. Please speak to one of our advisors about your specific situation.

Our team at AEC Consultant provides 100% free eligibility assessments. We will look at your full profile - your qualifications, your work history, and your goals - and tell you honestly what your options are. We have a 98.4% success rate and we will not waste your time with unrealistic advice.
Fees & Funding

Your Degree Does Not Have to Cost You Anything Up Front

Money worries stop a lot of people from even starting the conversation. We want to be completely clear: if you are a UK home student, Student Finance England (SFE) can cover the full cost of this degree, and you will not pay a penny back until you are earning above the repayment threshold. Here is how it all works.

Tuition Fee Loan

Covers 100% of your annual tuition fees for all four years of the degree, including the Foundation Year. The loan is paid directly from Student Finance England to the university - you never see the money or handle the payment yourself. There is nothing to pay upfront.

Maintenance Loan

A separate loan to help you cover living costs - rent, food, travel, books, and everything else that comes with student life. The amount you can borrow depends on your household income and where you study. For the 2025/26 academic year, the maximum is up to approximately £13,000 per year for students studying away from home outside London.

When Do You Repay?

Repayments only begin once you have graduated and your salary exceeds the threshold - currently set at £25,000 per year. Below that, you pay nothing. The repayment rate is 9% on earnings above the threshold only, and any outstanding balance is written off after 40 years. This is not a commercial loan - it behaves much more like a graduate contribution tied to your income.

Are You Eligible for SFE?

To qualify for SFE funding on this course, you generally need to:

  • Be a UK national or have settled/pre-settled status in the UK.
  • Be studying on this programme for the first time (not a second undergraduate degree).
  • Meet residency requirements (usually 3 years of ordinary residence in the UK before the first day of your course).

If you are unsure whether you qualify, do not guess - speak to us. We deal with SFE applications every day and we can tell you quickly and accurately whether you are eligible, and what to do if your situation is complicated.

AEC Consultant provides comprehensive, step-by-step guidance on your entire Student Finance England application - completely free of charge. We have helped over 5,000 students access their funding, and we make sure you claim everything you are entitled to.
