Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about studying construction management with AEC Consultant.

A construction manager plans, coordinates and oversees building projects from start to finish. This includes managing budgets and schedules, supervising contractors and site teams, ensuring health and safety compliance, and liaising with clients, architects and engineers. A construction management degree prepares you for site management, project coordination and progression into senior construction project management roles.

Yes. Our BSc (Hons) Construction Management with Foundation Year is designed for students without A-Levels or with lower grades than standard entry requirements. The HND in Construction Management for England also accepts students through relevant experience or an interview-based assessment. Your AEC Consultant advisor will confirm which route matches your background.

Yes. All of our construction management courses, including the Foundation Year, Level 6 Top-up and HND routes, are eligible for Student Finance England. This covers a Tuition Fee Loan paid directly to your university and a Maintenance Loan for living costs, both based on your personal circumstances. Visit our Student Finance guide for full eligibility details and current loan amounts, or speak to an AEC Consultant advisor for a free assessment.

An HND in Construction Management for England is a two-year Level 5 vocational qualification with a strong practical focus, while a full honours degree (BSc) typically takes three years, or four years with a Foundation Year. An HND can be topped up to a full honours degree in one further year through our BSc (Hons) Construction Management (Level 6 Top-up).

A Level 6 Top-up is a one-year accelerated programme for students who already hold an HND or equivalent Level 5 qualification in construction management. It converts your existing qualification into a full BSc (Hons) honours degree without repeating content you have already studied.

It depends on your starting point. The BSc (Hons) Construction Management with Foundation Year takes four years in total. The HND in Construction Management for England takes two years, and can then be topped up to a full honours degree through the BSc (Hons) Construction Management (Level 6 Top-up) in one further year.

AEC Consultant provides free admissions guidance for the HND in Construction Management for England, BSc (Hons) Construction Management with Foundation Year, and BSc (Hons) Construction Management (Level 6 Top-up), all delivered through our partner universities.

Not always. Many of our partner university construction management courses are applied for directly rather than through UCAS, which can mean a faster decision. Your AEC Consultant advisor will confirm the correct application route for your chosen course and guide you through the paperwork at every stage, free of charge.

Many students on our construction management courses already work in the industry. Several partner university courses are timetabled over two days a week, with some evening options, making it possible to continue working while you study.
